Planet Fitness Selfies

As I'm sure you've seen in their latest ads, planet fitness claims they are not a gym…okay…that's fine. I utilize their facility for the tanning beds and well-lighted selfie areas (aka the locker rooms). I'm still 3 months out from my first OCB show on March 8th, but I'm already trying to be stricter and more precise with hitting my macros and really pushing myself at the gym! Switching up workouts and including plyometrics and more cardio into my circuits and at the end has really made a huge difference in my definition and stamina! Eating adequately and making sure to consume enough fat and carbs to power me through my workouts and protein to help recover and build muscle after has really helped improve results and my energy and endurance levels as well. I can't wait to see where I get in the next few months!

Quest bar midnight snack

I always want something sweet after dinner, but don't want to ruin a whole day of healthy eating! Plus, I almost never have real sweets in the house...good thing I love quest bars!! Usually I'm struggling to reach my protein goal for the day, but this snack usually does a pretty good job of making it up while also satisfying the dessert craving! Macros: fat: 5g, carbs: 39g, protein: 32g, calories: 270

-quest bar of choice (I chose Apple pie)
-100 calorie yogurt cup (I chose vanilla
-dash of cinnamon

-preheat oven to 350 degrees
-rip up quest bar and roll into small balls
-bake quest balls for approximately 8 minutes (until expanded and soft all the way through)
-mix quest bites and yogurt together 
-top with cinnamon if desired!

Spinach Turkey Burgers

I get tired of eating chicken, eggs and white fish all the time, but was always reluctant to stray too far from the chicken because of how cheap it is! I have started buying the ground turkey and round steak when it's on sale which has helped maintain my sanity! I know some people strictly eat to live, but I am not one of those people. I don't live to eat necessarily, but I certainly loooooooove the grub!

My recipe here is for turkey burger, but I had some spinach that I needed to use up and thought it would give them a little color and extra flavor! You can get as creative as you want with the recipe and add in some egg whites to the mixture is always good too, but mine held together really well, so I didn't see it necessary. More protein in your burger certainly wouldn't be a bad thing though! The macros in my turkey burgers (mine came out to 3.3oz each cooked) include: Fat: 7.1g, Carbs: 2g, Protein: 19g and Calories: 147


-2lb package lean ground turkey
-2 handfuls spinach leaved (ripped up)
-1/4c diced red onion
-2tsp minced garlic
-Garlic salt
-Black pepper
-Crushed red pepper flakes


-Mix all ingredients together
-Mold into 5 equal burgers (will end up being right around 3.3-3.5oz each AFTER COOKING)
-Grill, bake or broil 
(I used my george foreman grill)

I often have burger cravings, so I always have wheat sandwich thins, reduced sugar ketchup, mustard and burger toppings on hand for when I make these! Whip up some baked sweet potato fries and it's that all American meal we all love, but health-i-fied! :)

Meal Preppin'

Until you're lucky enough to have your pro card and have this be your entire life, meal prep is key to balancing a busy life and still staying on track with health and fitness goals. I can't stress enough how much of a relief it is to be able to come home from work and already have my dinner cooked, weighed and ready for me to heat up really quick! I'm constantly on the go, and with money also being pretty tight right now, grocery shopping and doing weekly meal prep saves SO much time and money. I have learned to get pretty creative with my seasonings, marinades and recipes, so feel free to reach out if you're bored with your plain old chicken breast! I never knew a person could go through so much tupperware…I'm not sure I remember the last time I had a dishwasher full of actual "dishes!" 

Typically I try to carry 2 meals with me at all times and 2 snacks. What these are vary greatly (especially the snacks) because I get bored easily and don't want to be tempted to opt for that delicious looking donut instead…Oh wait, that will inevitably ALWAYS be a temptation! Darn you Dunkin' for being on every corner in Boston! Haha it's all about moderation and self control right? 


I've actually changed my debut plans since my last post. I'm definitely still planning of focusing all my efforts toward going pro in NPC but my first competition will now be the OCB Green Mountain Thaw in Vermont on March 8th! I wanted to compete sooner than May and also wanted to make sure I had some stage experience before I attempted an NPC comp. I'm SUPER excited to have already received my competition bikini (I literally ordered it the day I selected the show). I'll be posting my progress pictures as I get closer to performance time. Also, I've gotten stricter and more precise with my diet to make sure that I'm hitting my macros daily, and it really is making a huge difference! Abs really are made in the kitchen!

I realize I still have A LOT of work to do, but with the holidays and MY 21ST BIRTHDAY quickly approaching, I want to make sure I leave a little wiggle room for some fun too ;)
